utilising the fridge's door for the magnetic numbers
Arranging the alphabets and the numbers (though he has yet to know the correct order) keeps joshua boy occupied...especially when i'm not free to 'entertain' him.
Just one observation - he likes to sweep the letters off the board and shouts "oh oh!" After which he will pick them up & stick back to the board again. Wonder what he is up to???!!! I try to scold him, and be firm when i express my intention to get him to stop that nonsense and clear up the mess. Once he walked away, with his head down, then turned his head back, looked at me, and ran up to me, crying for my attention, asking to be carried. What did I do? I attempted to ignore him, and let him cry. However, after a while, 'xin ruan'...so mothers should know the ending of this episode...am i pampering him?

haaa.. that's the mother's heart...what to do, actually it hurts when we see them cry hor....
But must be careful else they will be up to the same trick again. Think of the long run if not we have to pick up after them in future. My husband and I always bring ourselves down to xiaoci' height and talk to her in a firm voice to clean up. Must be persistent.
But joshua boy seems to be a good boy when i met him that day. Much much well behaved than the ones i met b4.
At Julia Gabriel, they made the putting toys away part of the activity... they sing songs and do it in a fun way so they babies actually rush to pick up toys and put them back in boxes... the babies cant really do it well and the teachers do most of the work, but the fact that they participate... well, I guess it's gud enuff. I tried with Sophie... making up lousy songs wen I wanted to tidy up her stuff... she responded well i tink... at least she didnt disrupt me. Usually, she would quickly take out whatever I put in...
Barney also encourages that and they even have a song "Clean up clean up everybody everywhere, clean up clean up, everybody do your share..." . Phoebe likes the song and will help to clean up IF I DO IT WITH HER :) The Montessori way right, Linah ? haha :)
li nah, the instructors at gymboree did that too. maybe i shd try that , or like annie, play the clean up song...
Annie made me seem like siao-onz abt Montessori... hehehe... actually, according to Montessori... if we repeatedly pick up toys and clear up in the kid's presence and encourage participation, he/she will somehow mimick and learn to do it eventually.
